Renting a car is a great way to explore at your own pace! If you're driving from Bogotá to Villa de Leyva, here is what you need to know: - Requirements: You will need your original passport, a valid driver’s license, and a physical credit card in the driver's name for the security deposit. - Rental Companies: Major brands like Localiza, Avis, and Budget are at the Bogotá (BOG) airport. We recommend booking in advance. - Insurance: Basic third-party liability is mandatory. Check if your credit card covers Collision Damage (CDW), or you can purchase it from the agency. -Tolls & Cash: The drive has several tolls. All tolls require cash (Colombian Pesos). Keep about 100,000 COP in small bills in the car. -Navigation: Use Waze over Google Maps; it is much more accurate for Colombian traffic and "Pico y Placa" alerts. What is Pico y Placa? To reduce traffic, Bogotá restricts private cars based on their license plate numbers from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM on weekdays. Rules for your travel dates (September 2026): -On EVEN Days (e.g., Friday, Sept 4th): Only vehicles with plates ending in 6, 7, 8, 9, and 0 are allowed to drive. -On ODD Days: Only vehicles with plates ending in 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 are allowed to drive. Important Tip: Since our welcome event is Friday, Sept 4th (an even day), any rental car with a plate ending in 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 will be restricted within Bogotá city limits. We highly recommend asking your rental agent for a "compatible" plate for that day! Bypassing the Restriction: If you cannot get a compatible plate, you can request the rental company to provide a vehicle with a "Pico y Placa Solidario" permit for an additional fee. This is a special daily permit that allows the car to be driven regardless of its plate number.
Navigating Colombia is straightforward once you know which apps the locals use! While many are familiar with Uber, there are several reliable options to help you get around Bogotá before heading to the wedding. 1. Bogotá is a large city with plenty of digital transport options. We recommend downloading these apps before you land: -Uber: Widely available and very reliable in Bogotá. You can choose from various car levels depending on your group size. -Yango:, Cabify & DiDi: These are the primary local competitors to Uber. They often have the largest fleets and allow you to toggle between private cars and official yellow taxis. -Taxis Libres: This is the best app for hailing official city taxis with the security of GPS tracking and upfront pricing. 2. Villa de Leyva is a historic, colonial town where "big city" apps (Uber, Yango, etc.) do not operate. -Pueblo to Villa: The primary way to get from our venue (Club FAC) to the town center (El Pueblo) is by local taxi. -Availability: Taxis are easy to find at the main plaza or can be called by the hotel reception. The trip is very short and affordable! Safety Tip: It is always safer to use one of these apps to request a ride rather than flagging a taxi down on the street.

To help us achieve the aesthetic we’ve dreamed of, we kindly ask that you follow these guidelines: 1. Color Palette Restrictions: To ensure the couple stands out, we request that guests avoid the following colors: -No White, Cream, or Beige: Please avoid the entire off-white and tan spectrum. -No Pink: Please avoid all shades of pink, from blush to fuchsia. 2. Attire Expectations: -For Women: We recommend floor-length gowns or very formal midi-dresses. -For Men: A well-tailored suit is perfect. While a tie is optional and can be bypassed, we ask that you stick to a full suit rather than just a dress shirt and slacks. 3. What to Leave at Home: To maintain the formal atmosphere of the venue, we have a strict no-casual policy. Please do not wear: -Jeans or denim of any kind. -Flip-flops -Crocs -Sneakers -Cowboy boots. Villa de Leyva is known for its "eternal spring" climate, but because it is nestled in the Andes at high altitude (over 7,000 feet!), the weather can be a bit of a shapeshifter throughout the day. September Averages: -Daytime: Highs are typically around 69°F (20°C). It often feels warmer when the sun is out, so you'll get that beautiful mountain glow. -Evening: Once the sun goes down, the temperature drops quickly to around 52°F (11°C). A Quick Planning Tip -Since our events will transition from the afternoon into the cool mountain night, we highly recommend: -Layers are your friend: For those in dresses, a formal wrap, pashmina, or light dress coat is a must for the evening. -The "Mountain Sun": The sun is much stronger at this altitude than it feels! If you're exploring town during the day, don't forget the sunscreen and sunglasses.
