We'd love to say that we saw each other from afar, locked eyes, and knew it was love at first sight- but really, it was a simple swipe to the left (or right, I don't remember what the good one was) on OkCupid around 2 o'clock in the morning. Now usually we both agree that nothing good happens after 2 AM, but this very much an exception to that rule. Dani and Ryan immediately started chatting 6 hours later, when they were both up and at their respective jobs, Ryan had just received a promotion and was on-cloud nine, Dani was still teaching at Rutgers and getting ready for her class. When she told Ryan she had to get going said class, Ryan immediately thought she was a student and asked "oh cool, what are you taking?" What a play... After a what seemed a very short hiatus in text, Ryan asked Dani if she would like to get together for drinks and when she agreed, he picked the classiest place he could think of... Mother's in Easton. Dani mayyy have mentioned she liked dive bars. Fast forward to later that night, Ryan met Dani in her car in the circle and hopped in to help her find parking. He told her he knew a place to park and not get sketched out because it there were no cameras, and it was a parking lot you technically weren't supposed to park in, Dani assured him that her mother knew EXACTLY where she was and who Ryan was (smart!). The two parked, and proceeded to share a long, long evening together sharing drinks, laughs, and more than a few hilarious interruptions as everyone Ryan had ever met seemed to be at Mother's that night and seemed genuinely surprised to see him on a date with someone as cool as Dani. As the evening wound down the two parted ways, but would proceed to spend just about every day afterwards enjoying each other's company either via text, video call, or in-person. The rest as you could say history, and the reason for this webpage to exist <3
Dani likes anything from Widow Jane and other non-scotch whiskeys. Ryan thinks Dani is silly for not sippin' Scotch, which he enjoys very much, along with Angel's Envy (Cask), Michter's Sour Mash, and Four Roses Small Batch Select to name a few.
Top Gun.... duh. Ryan here... yes, "Top Gun... duh" .. how did we think of Top Gun you might ask? I wanted to name Goose "Morty" and Dani would not have it. I started going through every possible name I could think of that would fit a dog like Goose, who was "Woody" at the time he came to us from the foster. Eventually I ran out of ideas and started naming random movie characters as they popped into my head, and low and behold, we landed on Goose. What I didn't realize was that I was setting myself up to be a dog-dad for the second time as now Goose obviously needs a Maverick..
Dani's dream vacations are Spain and Casablanca. Ryan would love to get lost on the Emerald Isle, or get to spend some time vacationing on a boat somewhere off of a Caribbean island.
Dani's favorite Philadelphia memories are moving into our first home and meeting Goose for the first time. Ryan's favorite memories are not so different from Dani's... how original?
The Muppets Christmas Carol - and they host a viewing at their home every holiday season. Die Hard is a close second.
Ryan is always Daisy, the true Mushroom princess (Peach is a puppet deployed the Deep Koopa State to attempt to usher in King Koopa himself, Bowser, as the ruler of the Mushroom Kingdom... I mean seriously, who gets kidnapped THAT many times?) Dani bounces around but loves Donkey Kong, Dry Bones, and Boo.
