Our five year anniversary was approaching on Valentine's Day and we had made plans to head to the San Diego Zoo like we always do to celebrate. But this year we went to Dana Point the day before to go whale watching and stay at the hotel that's in the harbor. Dana Point holds such a near and dear place in my heart as I practically grew up there. My family has owned a timeshare right across the street from the ocean since before I was even born. Most of my most precious childhood memories are shared there with my Grandparents, and Chili definitely knows that. After whale watching (and not seeing any whales I might add) we checked into the hotel to drop out things off and such, He then had suggested walking over to the rock cliffs where apparently there are always sea lions (his excuse to get me to go over there) and watch the sunset. He could've just suggested the sunset and I would've been all for it anyways haha. It was about a 10-15 minute walk to the bottom of the cliff behind the Ocean Institute (another place I went to with my Grandpa as a kid) and the area was packed with people waiting for the sunset. We kept walking down the beach to get away from everyone we could so I could get a decent photo of the sunset, then we stopped and he wrapped his arms around me..I had a gut feeling it was going to happen, and you best bet there were tears shed between the both of us. The easiest yes of my life. After the shock lifted he then told me that Brady, Big Bear's local photographer, was there to capture the moment and as a photographer myself, I was so proud of Chili haha. I bawled my eyes out, then we got the most epic sunset photos of the most best day of my life.
