It all started on a sunny Tuesday when Dan decided to drive to Price, Utah to pick up a puppy. What he didn’t realize was that he was also about to meet his future fiancé. Casual Tuesday stuff. He sent a message to Syd: “Wanna come with me to get a dog?” She immediately shut it down—because obviously, that sounded like something you’d say to be polite. But after he asked again (with just the right amount of hope and charm), she thought, “What the heck, why not?” So, off they went. Two near-strangers, one impulsive plan, and one very long drive that Syd definitely didn’t realize would be two hours (classic Dan move). She filled the car with nonstop chatter—nerves, excitement, and her signature storytelling—and Dan, quietly listening, started to wonder if this unexpected trip was actually the beginning of something… big. By the end of the day, they had a dog—and maybe something even better. Two years later, they’re still laughing about that very first “date” and thanking God for one spontaneous road trip, one very good pup, and one great decision to just say yes.
