Is there a sandy beach in Castro, Puglia?

Answer

No, Castro has a rocky coastline. To find sandy beaches, we recommend going to: Acquaviva (2km away). It is not an equipped beach. Otranto, Alimini. It has a long coastline of sandy beaches, both equipped and free.

What are the nearest airports?

Answer

Brindisi to Castro – ca. 1h 10m Bari to Castro – ca. 2h 15m Rome to Castro – ca 7h 15m Napoli to Castro - ca 5h 10m But keep in mind that it may vary according to traffic.

How do I get around?

Keep in mind that there are very limited buses or other forms of public transpartion in this area. We´d strongly reccomend to rent a car at the airport you´re arrriving for the time you´ll stay there.

What is the weather like?

Answer

In late July, Castro experiences warm and sunny weather typical of the Mediterranean climate. Average temperatures range from 25°C to 35°C during the day, but it largely depends on whether there are warm south winds coming from Africa or cooler northern winds (let's hope for the latter for the sake of the Icelanders, shall we...). Humidity levels can be noticeable, especially closer to the coastline. It's advisable to stay hydrated and seek shade during peak sunlight hours.
