In July of 2023, Dan made a trip from Pittsburgh to Chambersburg with one goal in mind: to buy his dream sports car. While waiting for the paperwork at the dealership, he opened Facebook Dating—completely unaware that his location had just updated to a small town that would soon mean so much more to him. That’s where our story quietly began. We matched that day, but life didn’t quite line up right away. It wasn’t until October that I finally messaged him back—and only then did we realize we actually lived hours apart. We weren’t exactly sure how we matched since we were so far away from eachother. Still, something about it felt worth exploring. We planned to meet halfway for our first date a few weeks later… but Dan couldn’t wait. Instead, he drove all the way from Pittsburgh to Chambersburg to see me. He showed up with flowers and a teddy bear, completely winning me over before the date even started. We spent the day hiking at the state park, where Dan thought I might murder him because I took him to the woods on a first date. Thankfully I spared him. Later, over dinner at Texas Roadhouse, he asked me to be his girlfriend. I was completely smitten with him. Months later, we had a full-circle moment. We were in my hometown and we passed by a Walgreens, which Dan instantly recognized. He then realized that he had been to my town before when he purchased his car. His lack of geography skills made him completely forget that he had been there before. The mystery was finally solved. Out of all the places in the world, he had been there, at the exact right time. It felt like more than coincidence. God brought us together for a reason. After a year of long distance, we knew this was something real. I moved to Pittsburgh to be with him, and we started building our life together side by side. Nine months later, Dan asked me to marry him in beautiful Key West—the perfect beginning to our next chapter. From a spontaneous car trip to a once-in-a-lifetime kind of love, our story proves that sometimes the best things happen when you least expect them.
