Our journey began in 2020, when we were both working at the State Department in Washington, DC. Despite working in the same office building for over a year and being separated by only a few floors, it took an app to connect us. Once matched, we met in person for the first time at a coffee shop on a crisp sunny day in January. Daniel wasn't so sure he'd ever find Mr. Right, and Nick had all but given up on love. Yet on that morning in Georgetown, over fresh coffee and an assortment of Scandinavian pastries, a connection was made and a spark was ignited that would set both of us on an incredible journey of self-discovery, love, and lifelong commitment. Nick ended this first encounter with an awkward goodbye. A firm handshake followed by a very practical, "we'll be in touch soon." And it was soon - within minutes, we were texting. We saw each other the next day, then the day after that. The rest is, as they say, history. Together, we have weathered a pandemic. We have navigated the tumultuousness of simultaneous career transitions and undertaken the challenge of refurbishing an old home. Through it all, the love we have for each other has grown deeper than either of us ever dreamed possible, as has the trust and faith we have in one another. As we now prepare to take our next step in life together, we are excited to be doing so in the home we are building together and in an area that means so much to us both. And we are beyond grateful to be sharing this moment with family who loves us, friends who support us, and Otis, who gives us all the cuddles we need, and then some.
