Our invisible string first tugged us together back in sixth grade, when we rode the same bus to Foothill Horizons camp. Who knew middle school field trips would plant the tiniest seed? Fast forward to Central Catholic High School, where we shared classes and plenty of school dances (though never as each other’s dates). We even chose each other as football/cheer buddies, but at the time we stayed “just friends.” We kept in touch freshman year of college until COVID brought us home, when Carlos, Nadia’s little brother, made it his mission to play matchmaker. Nadia finally caved and invited Daniel over for the most awkward “date” ever. Picture two mannequins sitting side-by-side, watching a movie, barely talking. The real spark came shortly after, when Daniel came to visit almost every day after Nadia's wisdom teeth removal. It was sweet, thoughtful, and somehow still fun even when Nadia couldn’t eat solid food. Somewhere in those quiet moments, she realized what a genuinely great person he is, and asked him to ask her out. From there, we launched into three years of long distance, Daniel at Washington State and Nadia at Cal Poly SLO. Holidays and summer breaks became the highlight of every year, and each reunion felt like a mini-celebration. Finally, on a beautiful Easter Sunday, Daniel proposed surrounded by the fields where his roots run deep. And now, our favorite part begins — celebrating with all of you!
