Travel Note
If you're looking to make a longer vacation out of your trip, there are a number of nearby destinations. Oaxacan Coast: Puerto Escondido or Huatulco are well-known beach destinations in Oaxaca state. The Zicatela Beach at Puerto Escondido draws international crowds of surfers and bodyboarders and is known as the "Mexican Pipeline". Huatulco is a smaller fishing port with great snorkeling. You will need to fly through Mexico City in order to get to the coast. Mexico City: Mexico City was the #1 destination in 2016 as named by New York Times. You get a little bit of everything in this massive city, including "the world’s best cuisine, museums and forward-thinking design."
