Daniel and I met on bumble, it started as a hungover date (yes, I was the hungover one) to a Mediterranean restaurant and quickly progressed to a nerdy discussion about fantasy books. I began to tell Daniel about my favorite fantasy book series and how I firmly believed the author would never release the final book. He immediately knew which series I was talking about and our date went from being meh to full blown geeking out over our favorite sci-fy and fantasy topics. So while an app helped us meet, Patrick Rothfuss gave us something to gush about, and the rest is fantasy history.
Daniel and I have been talking about getting married for a long time now, we decided to design my ring together. So...I knew what it looked like, when it shipped, and when it arrived (I signed for it). I thought, there is NO WAY Daniel will ever be able to surprise me to ask, I am going to expect it at every event, every gathering, every MOMENT from here on out. HOWEVER, Daniel completely surprised me. I've taught classes at one of the local spin studios in SLC for a few years at 6am. Never in my life would I have expected him to ask at 6:42am as I was taking my class through a cool down. He got all my friends to ride in the class, who all knew about the engagement, and came in at the end of the class dressed in his finest. Having my closest friends and cycle community with me for the engagement was one of the most special moments of my life.
