We met on a summer night while out on the town. A mutual friend introduced us and we spent the majority of our time chatting about music. Daniel was very thoughtful as he listened to me ramble on about all the bands he just had to listen to. We ended the evening going our separate ways, not thinking we would see each other again. About a month later, I went to a show at the Lafayette Theater with a friend. Daniel saw us standing outside the theater while driving down the street and pulled over. We invited him to come out with us to the bar across the street. To my surprise, Daniel showed up to the bar with one of his friends. We all had a great time together but there was definitely a connection between Daniel and I. We spent the night talking and laughing. We exchanged numbers and the rest is history!
Daniel and I decided to take a vacation to Gatlinburg, TN. We stayed in a beautiful cabin in the Smokey Mountains. After a very rainy hike that left us completely soaked, Daniel decided we would go out to a nice dinner at a mountain top restaurant. I remember Daniel kept saying that this was going to be an "amazing night" but I had no idea that this would be one of the most memorable nights of my life. After eating a delicious meal, we took a walk around the garden area by the restaurant. We walked down a path that led to an open area with a perfect mountain top view. I remember leaning on the fence and hearing Daniel's velcro cargo shorts pocket open. I assumed he was pulling his phone out to take a picture of me. I turned around and he was on one knee with a ring in his hand. He said, "Holly Ann Lapacek will you marry me?". I was stunned and asked, "Are you serious?!?" then through all my tears I said yes! It was the biggest, most spectacular surprise of my life.
