Daniel and Hannah met at a mutual friend’s party over the summer between their sophomore and junior year of high school. They didn’t talk much at the party but must have made a lasting effect on each other. Flash forward to the first day of junior year, the last class of the day, they both end up in the same English class. Hannah sits at Daniel’s table because he is the only person in the class she recognizes until 2 more mutual friends come walking in. They instantly become best friends as if they had known each other their entire lives and it was only a matter of time (about 2 months) until they become more than just friends. Everyone around them knew the outcome of this story before they did themselves, even making bets on when they would get together but Daniel and Hannah had no idea their whole lives were about to begin.
In October, the couple went on a trip to Seattle, Washington with Daniel’s family to see their beloved Seahawks play as well as sight see around the state. On the second day of the trip they drove all the way to Ruby Beach on the coast and explored for a couple hours collecting rocks and walking the coastline in the rain. They then drove to Olympic National Park and into the Hoh Rainforest. The rainforest was beautiful, huge pine trees towered to the sky with all kinds of moss and mushrooms growing all over everything! Anyone who knows Hannah knows this is very much her vibe. While on a hike through the rainforest they stop to take a picture under a gorgeous tree that has curved over the path making a stunning moss covered archway. As Hannah turns around to have their picture taken, Daniel is on one knee with a smile on his face and an open ring box in his hand. Hannah is SHOCKED (and maybe blacked out a little bit) and quite literally asked “is this for realsies” where he assured her it is. She obviously said yes of course and then cried tears of joy (definitely bawling her eyes out) for what felt like forever. After all the pictures were taken and composure was made, they continued on the rest of their hike. Around the corner, they come to a huge uprooted tree with the bottom of the roots facing towards them. They look up at the 20 foot tall roots twisted together and realize the roots look just like a heart! They were astonished and mutually decided that was for sure a good sign having gotten engaged only minutes before.
