Yes. The ceremony and reception will take place outdoors. Please dress accordingly and plan for changing mountain temperatures, especially after sunset.
Early September in McCloud typically brings warm, sunny days and cool mountain evenings. Daytime temperatures are often in the 70s (sometimes low 80s), with crisp, dry mountain air. Once the sun sets, temperatures drop quickly — evenings can dip into the 40s or 50s. We recommend bringing a light jacket, shawl, or layer for after dinner, especially if you plan to stay for dancing.
Think elevated but not black-tie. We’re aiming for polished and put-together, with room for personality and fun. For men: slacks or dress pants with a button-down or jacket are perfect. Ties are optional. For women: midi/maxi dresses, dressy jumpsuits, or polished separates work beautifully. The “touch of whimsy” part means you’re welcome to lean into soft colors, florals, subtle patterns, textures, or unique accessories that feel playful and mountain-inspired. Think romantic, outdoorsy, and a little magical — not rigid or overly formal. The celebration will be outdoors in McCloud, so comfortable shoes are encouraged (block heels, boots, loafers, dress shoes you can walk in on grass or cement). And there will definitely be dancing — so if you’re planning on wearing formal shoes, feel free to bring a backup pair for the dance floor. If you feel confident, comfortable, and slightly elevated, you’re doing it right.
McCloud is a very small mountain town, so plan accordingly. Amenities are limited directly in town, and many businesses close earlier than you might expect. For additional food, coffee, and essentials, Mt. Shasta is about 12 miles (roughly a 15-minute drive) from McCloud. There you’ll find larger options like Starbucks, Subway, Black Bear Diner, grocery stores, CVS, and additional restaurants. Google Maps does not always route correctly to our venue, so please be sure to check the Directions FAQ on this website for accurate turn-by-turn guidance. The drive is scenic and peaceful, but expect mountain roads and occasional wildlife — especially around dusk. Give yourself a little extra time and enjoy the views.
PLEASE FOLLOW THESE DIRECTIONS AND DO NOT RELY ON GPS INSTRUCTIONS!!! Follow GPS Directions to the Chevron Station on Squaw Valley Road, McCloud, CA, 96057. Go 5.2 miles South on Squaw Valley Road from the Chevron Station. When the road narrows from two lanes to a single lane, you will see a small white sign on the Right side of the road the says TIMBER LODGE, turn RIGHT on a small, unnamed road, crossing the creek on a wooden bridge. Stay to the LEFT on the paved road and follow that about 1 mile to the second house on the LEFT. If you to a cattle guard on the road with private property signs, you've gone just past the house.
We’ll be serving a Mexican-style dinner featuring tacos and taco bowls with carne asada and pollo asada, along with rice, beans, and cheese. Come hungry. For appetizers, we’ll have chips, salsa, and guacamole available to snack on before dinner. Some drinks will be provided, but this is BYOB, so please feel free to bring your favorite beverage of choice. Dessert is still to be determined — but we promise there will be something sweet to celebrate.
No — your presence and positive energy are truly the only gifts we want. Celebrating this day with the people we love most means everything to us, and that is more than enough. For those who have asked and truly wish to contribute, we will have a honeymoon fund available. Please know this is completely optional and not expected in any way. Simply showing up and celebrating with us is more than plenty.
On-site parking will be available, though space is limited. If you’re able to carpool with others, we greatly appreciate it.
We’re hoping to plan a relaxed activity with friends and family the following day, though the details are still to be determined. If you’d like the opportunity to join us, we recommend booking your stay in the area for an additional night or two. We’d love to extend the celebration and spend more time together beyond the wedding day.
There will be direct Fiber Optic wireless internet at the home. While there is no cell service, this internet provides cell service in the home.
