In a typical millennial couple fashion, we met online (thank you Hinge!) right before the pandemic. Our first date was at Guapo’s in Shirlington and our love story has continued since our first margaritas together. It is true that I (Colleen) almost canceled the first date, as I was broken out into hives because of some allergic reaction from getting my hair done. If it was not for my roommate Shelly and Cassandra at the time saying “go for the queso” we wouldn’t be here today. A few dates the later the world had a pandemic and Daniel said “I’ll see you when this is all over.” Luckily, I convinced Daniel to keep seeing me through all the unknowns of the world. Colleen: I knew Daniel was different from the very beginning. Daniel walked into our first date with a blue fire fighter shirt and a grey pullover. He came in all cheerful and eager to learn more about me. I was instantly attracted to his love for his job and his heart to serve. Dating a firefighter means you get immersed in a community of firefighters and it’s honestly the best. Daniel will do whatever he can for the people he loves the most. He is patient, kind, and full of the best dad jokes. He never fails to make me laugh and challenges me to be the best version of myself. He is also the best dog dad to Coco, and has created the best the little family dynamic. I can’t think of anyone else I’d want to grow old with, but I’m so glad it’s you. Daniel: What can I say about Colleen…she is definitely one of a kind. From day one I knew that I found someone truly special. Little did I know that the world would stop and our first few months of dating would turn virtual. Getting to know someone through text and phone calls was difficult but Colleen made it easy. Her joyous personality, love of family, and quirkiness makes everyday interesting and fun. She gets me and I get her even though sometimes we are both stuck in our ways but that’s what brings out the best in us. Everyday is an adventure and I can’t think of anyone else id rather experience life’s ups and downs with. I’m so lucky that I found my best friend and I can’t wait to see what the future holds. Coco: Dad and I got off to a rocky start. The first time I met him was when he bought a new house and the county forgot to turn on the water. I decided to make myself right at home instantly by peeing a few times on his carpet. Dad thought that I wouldn’t win him over but after lots of forced cuddles and loud snoring he’s my best friend. We even have matching bills jerseys now for all the sports ball games. I can’t wait for him to officially be my dad. Our proposal was truly magical. Daniel convinced me that it was going to be a girls day, and showed up as a surprise. He then had a celebration with our closest friends and family. It could not have been a more perfect day! We both can’t wait for this next adventure together and new chapter in life!
