Daniel and Missy had mutual friends that had a baby. After they had their child baptized they threw a baptism party at their home, and both Missy and Daniel were invited as separate friends of the parents. The dad was an fraternity brother of Daniel's from college and the mom was a sorority sister that Missy had met in the local alumnae chapter and as chapter advisors at KSU. As the party was winding down Daniel and Missy were the only two guests left. Missy was holding baby J and ask Daniel if he wanted to hold him. She handed him over, and he started to get fussy and Daniel said "I know I'm not as pretty as she is but I'm fun. " Fast forward a few months and our friends were trying to hatch plans for us to meet again bc they knew we would be great together. Our first date was to Panera Bread where we sat outside on the patio and talked for 3 hours. We’ve messaged or talked into the wee hours everyday since.
During our first few months together we joked that with different holidays each month it would be silly to break up bc who doesn't need a date to eat tacos and drink margaritas with on Cinco de Mayo or watch fireworks with on July 4th. As we made our way through the calendar we were stumped with a holiday or reason to celebrate for the month of August. So we determined that August 2022 to our 1 year anniversary on September 18th would be our "Open Enrollment Period." For their 11th month anniversary Missy gave Daniel his Open Enrollment Brochure that contained inclusions, exclusions, Bronze, Silver, and Gold packages. The Gold package required Daniel submit a proposal for review. Missy thought that Daniel had surely decided to not select the "Gold" package when he surprised her with a ring that was "Not an Engagement Ring" the week before open enrollment ended, but what she didn't know was that Daniel had driven to Huntsville to take her mom out to lunch and ask for permission to marry her the week before and had the engagement ring ready to give to her too. Then on the last day of open enrollment Daniel had planned an anniversary trip to Chattanooga, Tennessee. They spent the afternoon roaming around Rock City Gardens, and when they got to Lover's Leap Daniel pulled out the engagement ring and asked Missy to marry him. She promptly said... "Na uh, Na uh, are you serious?" Once she was she was sure that he was serious she asked, "Did I say yes? Of course the answer is yes." After that they were surprised by many on lookers that had taken pictures and one that even sent someone from Rock City with a bottle of champagne that they enjoyed and the tables looking out over the cliff. Fast forward a year and you will find Daniel and Missy back in Huntsville on a different mountain sharing how much they still love each other with as many friends and family as they can pack into the venue they found for the wedding.
