In January 2014 I had started my second semester of Graduate school at The College of Saint Rose and was the Graduate assistant for an amazing professor who had started the Friday Knights Program( a recreational program for children diagnosed with ASD.) My job was to collect the lesson plans from activity leaders so that I could purchase their materials for them . Daniel was taking a break from school but was still actively involved in volunteering in the program....and of course as an activity leader. He would email me his materials list(always late) and always asking for something out of season. Who asks for a pool noodle in the middle of February??? We started to talk, but nothing ever came out of it. Then the talking ended. Months went by and I went away to work at a summer camp for 3 months. When I returned from my summer job I went right back to college and was still helping out with the Friday Knights program. Then in September 2014 I happened to wish Daniel a “Happy Birthday” on Facebook.......the rest is history.
