Daniel and Caitlin's Origin Story

In the beginning, there was coffee...

The day Daniel, aka Danny, piqued Caitlin’s intrigue at Cafe Passé in Tucson, AZ is the gold that makes embarrassingly cute familial lore. It’s hard to place precisely where the love had begun to take root because there were so many signs that it was inevitable. Was it Danny’s fateful freudian slip that made Caitlin raise her eyebrow, and give him her number? . Or maybe it was Caitlin’s enviable karaoke prowess? . Perhaps it was Danny’s modern dancing skills on the dimly lit floors of Hotel Congress? . Then again, Caitlin did steal the scene with her strategically placed love notes around the cafe Danny had managed. Either way, it didn’t take long for Danny to say the three big words first... the words Caitlin wasn’t surprised to hear because she felt the same way. 7 years later and now settled 1 state away in Belmont, CA, Caitlin and Danny return to their home state to tie the knot safely with a small group of family and friends, pandemic wedding style!

The Proposal

What happened at the Confluence

Danny is a man of many skills and talents, however keeping a surprise or a secret is not one of his strong suits. When he proposed to Caitlin on October 20, 2019, he shattered all previously held records of keeping a BIG secret to himself (with the exception of telling a few family members, friends, coworkers, neighbors, pets, future in-laws, ...) with an unprecedented and, frankly, unbelievable 8 MONTHS of not letting the news leak to Caitlin. Danny set the scene to propose to Caitlin under the guise of a 4-day backpack camping trip to the waterfall wonderland of the Havasu Falls Trail on the Havasupai Indian Reservation. On the trip, Daniel had the support of good friends Ryan and Rita Olinger, who also helped take photographs of the special moment. The location could not have been more stunning and adventurous! On the second day of the trip, the four friends set off from their campsite to the Confluence, where the Havasu Creek joins the Colorado River. It was in this beautiful location where Daniel proposed to Caitlin, and she said yes! With the imminent arrival of COVID-19 mere months after their engagement, the pair scrapped their initial plan for a traditional wedding. While hiking one February afternoon, they just said, "Screw it! Let's do it!" After months of uncertainty, Daniel and Caitlin are relieved to announce that their wedding day will be on April 3, 2021 (aka, 4-3-21 !!!).
