On a typical summer night at West Deck in Newport, Brianna's friend, Brie, was insisting that she introduce herself to Dan. Brie's boyfriend (and future husband) was college roommates with Dan's childhood friend, Jeff. Brie couldn't stop bragging about how perfect Dan was for Brianna. She described him as tall and blue-eyed with a baby face and explained how much he loves his Mom and golden retriever. Brianna reluctantly walked over and introduced herself to Dan. The conversation lasted less than 5 minutes until they met up again the following summer. This time, Brianna and Dan met up with their mutual friend groups at Atlantic Beach Club for Memorial Day weekend. Brianna asked Dan for his long sleeve O'Brien's shirt. Uninterested, Dan said no. Later that night, Dan, Brianna, and their friends went out to Dockside for drinks. Dan offered to buy Brianna a drink. She requested a Blue Moon. A while later, Dan came back with a Bud Light. Close enough! Later that weekend, Dan sent Brianna a text, after asking Brie's boyfriend for her number. They quickly made plans for their first date in Boston at Strega Waterfront in June of 2015.

Dan had planned a surprise birthday party for Brianna at Whalers Brewing Company in South Kingstown, RI. Brianna made plans with her bridesmaid, Alexis to meet up at the brewery with their puppies. Dan told Alexis to text Brianna that she was running late. Brie, Brianna's Matron of Honor, called her to tag along for the day too. On the way to Whalers Dan got a call from Jimmy, Brie's fiancé to tell us to meet them at Narragansett Beach before heading to the brewery. Dan asked Brianna to take a picture of Brie and Jimmy with their dog and Brianna said no. When she turned back around, Dan was on one knee and asked Brianna to marry him. She replied, "Oh my God! Are you ****ing kidding me!? Yes!" On the way to Whalers, Brianna wanted to keep the engagement to themselves and surprise family afterward. Dan parked behind a Connecticut license plate and the driver was hiding behind his visor. Brianna noticed it was Jeff, one of the groomsmen. Then, she noticed her dad's car and her maid of honor's car. It clicked when walking in that this was another surprise. The best part was that most of the friends and family there were also being surprised when they realized Dan had proposed to Brianna moments before. Everyone (and their dogs) ate, drank, and celebrated (a little too hard).
