How we met..

It was the summer of 2019, and we both found ourselves single, using a dating app to find what we were searching for. When we began talking, we instantly found a ton of shared interests including our obvious love for our dogs. We even had our dogs in our dating profile! When we decided to make a first date, we couldn’t think of any better place than a dog park. We decided on a nearby park that was actually an island paradise for dogs! We made the plan to get together, with our dogs on a Wednesday afternoon. When I arrived at the dog park, Tony proceeded to tell me that he might be late. Not a great start! When I had asked why, it became more clear. He told me that part of his parents’ house was on fire and he was trying to make sure it was under control before he left. Obviously I told him that we can just reschedule but shockingly he still showed up! We went on to walk Lulu the weiner dog and Roxie the great golden doodle and so began our story. Over the next couple of months, we continued to talk, go on dates with and without the pups, and really get to know each other. We decided to take a chance and start our relationship. We had about 3-4 months before the world would change forever. Covid stunted what we were able to do together as the world was shut down. We also lost two amazing family members in Aunt Sue and Tony’s mom Debby that same year. We tried to pick up the pieces and continued to move forward together, hoping to build future memories. Our relationship was tested in so many ways but we were able to persevere and grow further and further in love. Fast forward 3 years to the winter of 2022. Three years of memories, three years of so much love shared, and three years of two dogs being best friends. Tony took me back to the dog island where we walked through the same park where we had our first date. Down by a small beach area, Tony bent down to put a new tag on Lulu's collar that he just got. He called me over to show me and on it he had the tag engraved with the words "Will you marry dad?". Bawling my eyes out I of course said YES and truly felt like my dreams were coming true.
