The sooner the better! We recommend buying your ticket 2 months before the lunch date for the best price.
We recommend you use cash, but if you plan to use your credit/debit card make sure you notify your bank before you leave the USA that you will be using it out of the country. If you plan to pay with cash, go ahead and order EUROS from your bank before you leave the USA (you will get a better rate of exchange, probably with no commission, and usually the bank will buy back your unused Euros- notes!) However, at a pinch, once you arrive at Fiumicino airport in Rome there are foreign exchange bureaus available.
No! You will need a travel adapter. Walmart has these available and you can also find a cheap one on amazon (search NEWVANGA travel adapter). Also remember that the voltage is 240volts in Italy, hair dryers, straighteners etc might not work, but most modern phones, tablets, and electronic devices are compatible.
We are planning a trip to Rome on Sunday- details to come!
If you do not have roaming on your phone, make sure to get the free google maps app and download a map of the area before you depart the USA. This will work in Italy even if there is no cell reception!
Plan to arrive least 2 hours before your scheduled flight (we recommend 3 hours just in case)!
