Yes! Per the consulate, all foreigners are required to present a valid and not expired passport or travel document when entering Mexico (traveling by air, land, or sea). The Mexican government requires that your passport be valid during the entirety of your trip.
Uber is the easiest option and it works much the same as it does anywhere else! Once you exit Customs, type your gate number into your pick-up location and your hotel / Airbnb into your drop-off.
We have a hotel block booked in the Hyatt Regency in Polanco (see "Travel" section), where we'll be providing transportation on Day 2 to and from the hotel. That said, Polanco, Condesa, and Reforma have many great hotel and Airbnb / VRBO options so feel free to book wherever makes you happy! Just note that the pickup / drop off location for Day 2 transportation will be at the Hyatt Regency in Polanco.
While Day 1 festivities will take place indoors, Day 2 festivities will take place outdoors in the beautiful Ex-Convento Desierto de los Leones. Ever the planners, we'll make sure to have a tent and whatever is needed for all of us to be comfortable (weather-wise) :)
Generally, February weather in Mexico City tends to be nice and and warm. However, given that the day 2 festivities will be outdoors and the weather is forecasted to be cold and rainy on that day, bring warm clothing. Note that the venue will have tents and heaters. Furthermore, continue to monitor the weather for "Desierto de los Leones."
Yes, we will be providing transportation to and from the Hyatt Regency in Polanco for the Day 2 festivities. If you aren't staying at the Hyatt Regency in Polanco but would still like to take the shuttle, you are more than welcome to; just let us know when you fill out your RSVP. For Day 1 festivities, transportation will not be provided. We recommend using Uber or taking a taxi :)
An RSVP is a promise that you're going to attend the wedding. When you say yes on an RSVP, you are officially added to the guest count for food, drink, and space purposes. For this reason, please make sure that you RSVP accordingly (we wouldn't want anyone not having chairs or churros! :p).
When you receive the invitation, you will receive a link to be able to RSVP through our wedding website. This link will indicate the number of guests included in your party.
Like with any city, one should always exercise caution when traveling. Below are some of the things we do when traveling to stay safe: 1) Ubering: triple check Uber license plates with the license plate listed app; check an Uber driver's profile before taking the ride and cancel if a rider does not have a long history of rides with good ratings; follow your route on the app. 2) Keep a photocopy of your passport and all other important documents in a safe place 3) Avoid 'seedier' areas of the cities you visit, especially at night. 4) Use ATMs during the day, when there are people around. 5) Avoid being flashy at airports As a general callout, we love Mexico City and have traveled there many times!
Please continue to check the website as we will be adding additional details for the event in the coming months. Contact dnaweddingplanning@gmail.com if you have any additional questions :)
