It was the Fiesta Friday of 2019 in Santa Barbara. We were both out celebrating with friends, having drinks, and a good time. After a few hours and a few drinks, we stumbled upon each other at a Indochine Nightclub (R.I.P). We danced and hit it off. I gave my number to AB so that we could connect afterwards. However, AB was pretty drunk and did not remember the night, so he never called or texted me. Fast forward a week later, I end up at Sharkeez with my friends and their cousins. AB shows up at Sharkeez with his cousin and friend. They walked over towards us and for some reason, AB kept staring at me, as if he was trying really hard to remember where he recognized me from. Turns out, AB was there to meet up with my friend’s cousin and our groups joined. Our newly formed group decided to go to Omalley’s. Here, AB ended up hearing me talking to someone and saying, “Hi, my name is Daniela”, and he all of a sudden he cut me off, showed me his phone and asked, “Are you this Daniela?!?!”. I confirmed that it was me and he apologized for not texting or calling me back. We hit it off again, dancing and talking until the bar closed. When it was closing time, my friends were rushing me to go, and I leaned in and gave AB an awkward kiss that was half on the mouth and half on the cheek. He said that I left him like Cinderella left Prince Charming. He texted me after to make sure I got home safe. I couldn’t help but think that fate reunited us that night. From there, we texted each other every day. Throughout our conversations, I would tell AB that I had wanted to try a new ice cream spot that had opened up, so that he could take me on a date. But he never picked up on the hint. Eventually, we did make plans to go on a date to get food and drinks. We met up, ate, drank, and danced—and from that night on, the rest was history. Decidimos ir a O’Malley’s. Me reí y confirmé.
