How We Met

January 6, 2019

Danica and Louie went to the same church for a few years, but had never run into each other. That changed around New Year’s when Danica’s sister Liz set them up on a blind date. Texting for a few days before the date, they decided to meet up early. The first time they met was on Sunday, January 6th, right after church. Louie surprised Danica by asking her out right then. Their first date was one of those magical, fairytale, rom com kind of nights. There was a crazy snow storm, one of their goofy friends from church invited himself (don’t worry, he got the hint and was kind enough to pay for their date without them knowing), and love was in the air. Danica first remembers being struck by Louie’s smiley brown eyes and couldn’t look away from them all night. They talked for hours until the staff was closing up. Then they ended with a hug that was out of this world. Louie got home and immediately got on his knees and prayed that she’d be the one. God was listening and now here they are getting married 8 months later!

How Louie Proposed

May 6, 2019

Danica and Louie had been talking about getting married and Danica even knew Louie had a ring! But Louie was waiting for the perfect moment to ask her family for her hand in marriage. He found it on a family trip to California. First he talked with her Grandpa Phil and asked his advice on asking for her hand, love, and marriage. Then he talked with her family and they said yes! The next day he showed Danica around his home town in Santa Ana before driving back to Reno. After going to his favorite taco place, going by his old house and old schools- he said “One more stop!” Danica wondered if he was going to propose then, but thought “Nah- he told me he was going to fake a proposal first to keep me on my toes. And besides, he mentioned he left the ring at home in Reno!” But soon enough, at the last stop, at one of his favorite childhood beaches, he started telling Danica how much he loved her, cared for her, and was going to “be her cane” like her Grandpa Phil stepped in and was for Grandma Emily the night before when she couldn’t reach her cane. Danica again thought “Is he going to propose?! No way... he just always tells me how much he is going to love me for the rest of our lives...” But before she knew it, Louie was getting on one knee and pulling out the ring. It was only natural that Danica’s first response was “You’re not joking, are you?!” But he was very serious! Through happy tears and laughter- she of course said “YES!”
