I remember everything about the day I first met Dani. I remember her pink and grey Nike's and how they turn in slightly when she's trying to be sassy up to her auburn hair braided to one side. It was the night of the Crazy 8's and even though she didn't run the race, she spent the next few weeks running through my mind. Little did I know that after a year of dating, when I asked her about the first time we met, she didn't remember any of this. I guess it was pretty memorable for her too... - Taylor Our group of work friends planned a cabin trip weekend and I shared the responsibility of making the invite list. Everything was planned and we all carpooled to the cabin for a fun weekend getaway. Burgers were on the grill and toppings were being chopped and prepared when a guy (Taylor), I did not know/invite, walked into the cabin bag and all. Turns out a friend of ours invited him to hangout with us for the weekend... and I am so grateful he did. Taylor and I hit it off and started dating and now we're getting married! Back to the story, about a year or so later Taylor and I were talking when I completely dug myself in a hole... this entire time I thought we had first met at the cabin weekend when we actually had met a couple weeks before at a road race. So, that year for Taylor's birthday I gave him a watch box with the latitude and longitude of where we first met engraved into the lid. There's no way I'll forget now! - Dani
It's August and Taylor and I have been going on dates for about a month. He invited me to Roanoke for the weekend where I would meet his family, celebrate his youngest brother's birthday, and watch his middle brother's college football game. At this point, Taylor and I had not had the "relationship" talk, but to my surprise, he introduced me to his entire family as his girlfriend. After a fun filled weekend we were driving back to Tennessee when I asked him why he never asked me to be his girlfriend. His response: Sometimes its better to ask forgiveness than permission. - Dani
Fast forward three years from that first night I laid eyes on her. We decide to take a week long trip to California to visit San Fransisco, Monterey, Yosemite, and Nappa Valley. I knew Nappa would be the place to propose but at what vineyard? Frog's Leap vineyard was our first destination and everything was perfect. From the French Country styling of the main building, to the walk through gardens and the beautiful scenery; I knew this was the place. During our last glass of wine I asked if she would like to walk around but she retorted, "NO," and with a swirl of the wine glass added, "I'm not moving from this chair." With three wine tastings back to back this required that I postpone the proposal to the next vineyard. Sterling Vineyard was next on the list, but I don't know what was worse. The fact that they herded you through a wine tasting maze or the barely two sip amount of wine that was dispensed. Needless to say, her attitude was less than ideal for one of the biggest moments of her life so again, I waited. On to Caymus, the final vineyard, and boy was it worth the wait. The wine was fantastic and the views and atmosphere rivaled Frog's Leap. We finish the wine tasting and took a stroll around the property only to realize that half of the house is blocked off and we have seen almost all of the property and I still haven't proposed! She looks at me and asks, "ready to leave?" So I shake my head no and suggest we take a picture over by an open area with a gazebo. Another typical response flies out of Dani's mouth, "you want a picture with that...why?" I just can't win. I lead her to the final unchartered area, get down on one knee, and ask her to begin the next chapter of our lives as my Mrs. Woodrum. - Taylor
Taylor's proposal was perfect in every way and the atmosphere and location was a little slice of Heaven, but Taylor's hiding skills were subpar at best. I found my ring... but not just any ring.... THE ring in March 2017 and our engagement didn't take place till July 2017 in California. That's four whole months of making sure my nails and makeup looked good and four whole months of thinking every time Taylor bent down to tie his shoe he was proposing. I don't think I've worn makeup and fixed my hair for four months straight ever. So, the first weekend after our engagement I wore yoga pants, didn't have an ounce of makeup on, and didn't have heart palpitations every time Taylor tied his shoes. - Dani
