From Tiburon, you can also catch the ferry to Angel Island, a beautiful spot to explore, hike, and enjoy panoramic views of the Bay. A beloved Marin staple serving Puerto Rican comfort food bursting with flavor. Order the pollo al horno, fried plantains, Cubano sandwich, or the limeaid. Don’t skip the famous bright orange hot sauce. Expect a line, but it’s always worth the wait!
If you’re coming into the city, this is a must-eat spot. We usually grab takeout from their West Portal location, but the one in the Marina is just as delicious. Their pizza salad, meatballs, and garlic cheesy bread are our go-tos, and the pizzas are phenomenal too. It’s popular for a reason, there might be a line, but it’s always worth the wait.
San Francisco’s North Beach (“Little Italy”) is a favorite of ours and where Dani lived for 12 years. The neighborhood is full of Italian restaurants, bakeries, and cultural landmarks. Bars, Restaurants & Pizza: Food lovers, rejoice! For authentic Italian, try Sodini’s or Cotogna. Seafood fans won’t want to miss Sotto Mare and its famous cioppino. Craving pizza? Grab a slice at Golden Boy (square slices!), Flour & Water Pizzeria, or Tony’s Pizza Napoletana with dozens of award-winning styles. For drinks with a view, check out the iconic Top of the Mark. Bakeries & Deli: Stella Pastry, Liguria Bakery, Mara’s Italian Pastry, and Molinari’s (perfect in Washington Square Park). A must-visit oasis in the heart of the city! Stroll through the park to see the Conservatory of Flowers, check out the bison grazing in the paddock, and visit the iconic Dutch Windmills. Golden Gate Park is also home to world-class museums like the de Young Museum and the California Academy of Sciences. With gardens, trails, and beautiful photo spots around every corner, it’s the perfect place to explore for a few hours or an entire afternoon.

Arizmendi Bakery – A worker-owned cooperative bakery famous for its fresh sourdough, daily pizza specials, and delicious baked goods. George’s Café (West Portal) – Perfect for classic diner-style breakfasts, hearty lunches, and strong coffee to start the day. Jared particularly loves their donuts! For a little fresh-air adventure, take a stroll along the newly renovated Great Highway and enjoy views of the Pacific Ocean , the perfect way to walk off a pastry or soak in the sunset.
