Where to begin? Let’s start at the place you all will be joining us this September - Churchill Downs. Back at the 2019 Kentucky Derby there was a plan to set us up by some dear friends, Sam and Sam Robey (Shout out Sam squared). Morgan was there, she knew of the plan, as did I. Literally, everyone knew except for Dani. In typical Dani fashion, she spent the whole day trying to please everyone, ensuring their drink was full or they needed cover from the pouring rain, Dani was on it. Therefore, we didn’t get to know each other too much that day, but we exchanged a couple of texts the weeks following… but those eventually died off - call it the wrong dating time for both of us. Fast forward forward nine months (no not what you are thinking) to February 2020. I was living in the DC area at the time, and I get a random text from Dani. “Are you still living in D.C.? I will be there this weekend, and would love to grab lunch Sunday.” Honestly part of me wanted to say no because I had a tee time that day, but I went against my better judgement… and I am sure glad I did. I had planned for an hour lunch, but before I knew it we had been sitting there for four hours. Time flew by uninterrupted, minus a few calls from her friends offering a bail out in case the lunch date was going bad. I ended up taking her to the airport that day, and since then, there has not been a day we have not talked. I moved to St Louis in July of 2020, but we never missed a beat. Phone calls turned into facetimes, which then evolved into weekend trips, then week trips, then one way trips with no return flight planned upon arrival. I caught on fairly quickly what I was signed up for when checked bags were coming up and small carry on bags would head back. Within 5 trips my closet shrunk, but my love grew. Fast forward almost 2 years from the day we reconnected, I asked Dani to marry me and she said Yes! While she asked me to write the “Our Story” part of this website, I know it is just beginning. We look forward to hosting everyone to start the next chapter.
