Kentucky Derby Museum
A visit to the Kentucky Derby Museum is a must for anyone wanting to experience Louisville’s most iconic tradition. Located at Churchill Downs, the museum offers an inside look at the history, pageantry, and excitement of the world-famous Kentucky Derby. With the 152nd running of the Kentucky Derby being held a week before our wedding, Churchill Downs is sure to look it’s absolute best!
Old Forester Distilling Co.
Located on historic Whiskey Row in downtown Louisville, Old Forester Distilling Co. offers one of the most immersive bourbon experiences in the city. The distillery opened in 2018 but the brand itself dates back to 1870, when Old Forester became the first bourbon sold exclusively in sealed glass bottles to guarantee quality. This is one of our personal favorite tours! Booking ahead of time is highly encouraged.
Angel's Envy Distillery
Visitors can take a guided tour through the distillery to see the entire bourbon-making process—from fermentation and distillation to bottling—before finishing with a tasting of Angel’s Envy expressions, often paired with artisanal chocolates. This is a great stop for both bourbon lovers and first-time visitors exploring Louisville’s bourbon scene.
Waterfront Park
A beautiful place to walk along the Ohio River, rent bikes, or relax with great views of the city skyline. Perfect if you want a casual outdoor activity while exploring downtown. We love to use the walking bridge to cross the river!
La Bodeguita De Mima
Louisville also has some fantastic Cuban cuisine! This colorful and lively restaurant in the NuLu neighborhood is one of our personal favorites. It’s the perfect spot for flavorful Cuban dishes, great cocktails, and a fun, energetic atmosphere—making it a great stop while exploring one of Louisville’s coolest areas.
North of Bourbon
The cozy, lively restaurant is known for its standout feature: several tables are actually built inside massive bourbon barrels, creating intimate booths that feel both fun and distinctly “Kentucky.” The menu features creative Southern New Orleans-inspired dishes, craft cocktails, and more than 300 bourbons to choose from—making it a perfect spot for a memorable dinner while visiting Louisville.
