The Chicago Lakefront Trail is our favorite walking/running spot ever. The lakefront path is pure magic in the summer. Take a long walk, run, or bike ride or sit on the grass and have a picnic!
There are tons of wineries, breweries and restaurants all along the Chicago River and it's a gorgeous place to sit outside during the summer. Kayaks are also available to rent!
Best Chicago recommendations from us include: Monteverde, Sushi San, Aba, Ema, Galit, Lula Cafe, Gallucci, Greek Islands, QXY Dumplings, and Jeni's for some amazing ice cream or Beatrix for the best cookies on this planet.
Second City is our favorite - we highly recommend for a good laugh. iO Theater, Laugh Factory, and Zanie's are other amazing options, but Second City is classic Chicago.
Wicker Park is super funky and artsy, Lincoln Park is wholesome and residential, and Old Town (where we used to live) has an amazing street (Wells) running right through it, with enough fun bars/restaurants/shops to keep you busy for a whole day. Or walk around the Loop for more touristy vibes. You can't go wrong!
If you want to party before our party, North Coast Music Festival and the Chicago Jazz Festival are both happening on Labor Day Weekend!
We also recommend taking the Architectural Boat Tour along the Chicago River or visiting the Art Institute. Chicago has plenty of other museums as well that are worth a visit, but needless to say, you can count on spending some time at the Field Museum!
