I was chatting with a cute Jewish chef that I matched with on JSwipe (it's like Tinder for Jews!) and was planning to meet him at Dirty Frank's for drinks. It's one of the only bars in the city that allows dogs and I had just adopted Sadie a few days earlier so I wanted to bring her along (obvs)! The night came and it was pouring rain so I made sure Alex wasn't a serial killer and invited him to my place instead. He showed up with cinnamon buns from Amis (added bonus!) and we talked and drank whiskey on my couch with a very small Sadie sleeping in between us. Fun fact: he's still "Alex-JChef" in my phone :)
It was my 30th birthday and we were in my favorite place in the world - Cinque Terre on the coast of Italy, specifically Riomaggiore. We only had one day there and I was cranky about missing one of our connecting trains that morning, plus I was getting hangry! After schlepping our suitcases up a steep hill to our hotel, I eventually stopped sweating and we got some food. After an amazing bowl of pesto pasta (Trofie al Pesto), my mood immediately changed and I was excited to enjoy my milestone birthday and explore the city. After lunch, I suggested heading over to a pretty overlook to take some pictures before we looked for the hiking trail. Unbeknownst to me, I set-up my own proposal! When we got to the spot, there was a couple trying to take a selfie. I offered to take their pictures if they would take ours. When it was our time, I turned around to put my stuff down and get settled, and when I turned back to face the camera, Alex was down on one knee. TBH, my first reaction was to look at the woman holding my phone to make sure she was ready for this! He asked and I said YES! And thankfully, the random stranger crushed it and captured every moment! The rest of the day was spent drinking champagne, FaceTiming our parents, and relaxing by the water. It was perfect <3
We had an intimate ceremony in Margate, New Jersey on August 1st, 2020 with close family and four-legged friends. It was a wonderful evening filled with eating, dancing, and more eating!
We welcomed our beautiful little boy, Avi Reed Pollack, on June 16th. We’re enjoying being a family of 4, and Sadie is the best doggie sister and nanny!
