Danelle had been hounding Cole for months to “just ask already.” The one thing Cole wanted to do was surprise her with the timing of his proposal because they picked out a few rings together, and Danelle knew he bought a ring. After what was probably the hundredth time dropping a *subtle* hint to Cole, he told Danelle if she mentioned it “one more goddamn time,” he was going to wait another year before asking. Two days after that conversation they planned a date to Fuji. It was a chilly October evening, but they decided to go for a stroll through Phoenix Park in Eau Claire before dinner. The sun was setting, and they had walked through the entire park. They sat on a park swing and watched as the sun was setting behind the skyline. Cole walked over to a large rock on the river’s edge and called Danelle over just as two ducks flew in, landing on the water. Cole grabbed Danelle’s hand as she stepped down off the rock. Danelle glanced back over her shoulder to get one final look at the sun before it fell below the horizon. When she turned her head back around, Cole was down on one knee with a diamond ring in his hand.
