How we met

After waiting for Daniel's roommate to be out-of-town, Daniel's friend Pam invited him and Nicole over to her apartment to play an awful version of Cards Against Humanity. On the subway over, Nicole reminded Pam that Cards Against Humanity generally requires more than three players. Pretending it was her plan all along, Pam quickly invited everyone she knew that lived in her neighborhood, including Andrew, who had moved there earlier that week. Daniel spent most of the night insulting Andrew, which Andrew didn't notice. Andrew spent much of the night attempting to flirt with Daniel, which Daniel ignored. At some point in the night, Nicole felt a little sick and decided to lie down. Daniel wanted to check on her and bring her water, but Pam wouldn't allow him to until he agreed to go on a date with Andrew. Once Daniel acquiesced, Nicole suggested it was time to leave, but Pam wouldn't allow Daniel to call an Uber until he and Andrew exchanged numbers. The rest is history.

The Engagement

Andrew and Daniel took a trip to the Pacific Northwest to celebrate their second anniversary, where they each independently decided to propose to the other. Semi-unbeknownst to Andrew, Daniel had been researching engagement rings (not so subtly). On their anniversary, Daniel and Andrew went hiking in Discovery Park in Seattle, Washington. Each time they got to a scenic area, Daniel looked around to see if there would be anyone willing to take a photo of the proposal. Finally, when they got to the beach by the lighthouse, Daniel saw a pair of women he thought would be willing and took advantage. Daniel told Andrew that he was going to ask one of the women to take a photo of them in front of the water. Under the guise of showing them how to use the camera function on his phone, Daniel quietly told them that he was about to propose and asked them if they would be willing to capture the moment. After posing for a photo with Andrew, Daniel pulled the ring out of his pocket and got down on one knee. An utterly shocked Andrew said yes. Then, while still ugly-crying, Andrew made Daniel actually ask the question. It turns out that Daniel had only beat Andrew to the punch by a matter of hours. Later that evening, after dinner, Andrew handed Daniel a card he had prepared before the trip. In it, he asked Daniel to marry him.
