We were barely acquaintances during college, but had a bunch of overlapping friends. We became friends during Texas 4000, a bike ride from Texas to Alaska to raise money for cancer research. Daniel preferred to stay silent on the bike, but Madeline kept chatting him up, and eventually, she became one of the few people Daniel actually enjoyed talking to while riding. We had so many good conversations about random topics, life, and each other. After the ride, we kept in touch, sharing tons of late-night FaceTime calls and eventually caught feelings. Madeline asked Daniel out and, after a few weeks, we became official! Our first date was at Mozart's Coffee in Austin to see the Christmas light show.
Since we started dating, our entire relationship has been long distance! First from Austin to Dallas, then Lubbock to San Francisco, and now Amarillo to Dallas. Honestly, it was really tough at times. We missed holidays, birthdays, and important events with each other. We scheduled phone calls to beat the time zone difference, paid for expensive flights, and used God knows how many gimmicky long-distance apps/gadgets. But we have gone on so many fun adventures together! We've gone on road trips, tried new foods, and experienced so many new things together. From Japan to New York to Utah to Joshua Tree, every moment was something to cherish. We can't wait to finally live in the same city (Where: TBD!!) and continue our adventure together!
