It all started over food, naturally. lol. David and Bianca met in 2016 at a natural foods conference while in their respective MBA / MA.MBA programs. Bianca was actually attending this conference trying to find an innovation job in the food industry while David was, well, just trying to get some snacks. But fate brought them together that day to meet just briefly. The next spring, Bianca noticed David outside of her classroom and decided to send a quick text...and that text turned into an invite to happy hour after class. Never one to turn down a glass of wine, Bianca happily agreed. At the happy hour they both chatted for hours as if no one else was there. They bonded over their shared love of food, unique travel experiences, adventure, and mezcal. This conversation went on for hours and before they knew it, the restaurant was about to close! After that night they continued to text about their travel dreams, restaurants they wanted to try, and more. The rest was history and they have not stopped chatting since.
Oh 2020 and 2021, what a time it has been! We all know how difficult COVID has been. Couples all over have had to shift or cancel their wedding plans in order to stay safe and we were no different. While we planned to have a fantastic wedding in 2021, the pandemic had other plans. Love is patient, but we didn’t want to wait any more years or even months to get married! So we started planning an adventure for just us two. We initially decided that we were going to do the legal ceremony in Seattle and then a week later go to Oaxaca, the birth place of Mezcal, to say our vows. Half of that plan worked. On March 6, 2021 Bianca’s sister Brittani and brother in law Averill flew up to Seattle to perform an intimate ceremony for us in a cute hotel room by the water. It was perfect! Everything was going according to plan, but then 3 days before the flight to Mexico, we got COVID. Devastated as we were, we were SO grateful that we maintained our health and had each other for support. So we shifted plans again and once recovered decided to go somewhere in the US instead. We wanted a place with epic views for photos, delicious fresh food, and adventure. Alaska fit the bill! On July 18, we flew to Alaska and embarked on what was truly a remarkable (and private) mountaintop vow exchange and a 2-week honeymoon. We traveled across South/Southeast Alaska by car, seaplane, helicopter…we ate 3lb king crab and the freshest halibut…and we saw orcas, bald eagles, bears, otters, and more. We couldn’t have asked for anything more. We are so grateful to have family and friends like you, and we can’t wait to make memories and share more experiences with you all as husband and wife. milestones. D&B Adventures here we come!
