Dan and Sarah are getting married in March because it marks 10 years of being together! Forever is gonna be a piece of cake!
Dan and Sarah met at the Robotics Club in high school. Even though they went to different high schools, (Dan went to Milwaukie High and Sarah went to Clackamas High), they both went to the technical center that both of the schools filtered into: Sabin-Schellenburg Professional Technical Center. Building robots and going to competitions was a big part of club but their favorite part was (attempting) to make breakfast for the club members on the weekend. Lots of misshapen pancakes and plenty of crispy breakfast sausages happened but also lots of laughter and team building. Go Sabin Sharks!
We both were in high-school, on spring break, so we went with his family for a day of fun at Oaks Park. We went on all sorts of rides, played some arcade games, and roller-skated at the rink. While his brothers waited to do the go-karts, Dan and Sarah decided to play a game of mini-golf by themselves. Both were doing pretty good, that is until a gnat decided to fly directly into Dan's eye! At first, Sarah couldn't quite tell it was not a joke and was laughing. Once the seriousness of the situation set in, the gnat was removed (lovingly) from Dan's eye. The game continued, with the winner being Sarah! She even won a free round of mini-golf. Having fun is a major key to our relationship, and being able to laugh together is important to us.
In 2017, Sarah was diagnosed with a chronic condition: Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. After years of self-advocacy, doctors finally found a massive cyst. She had to have emergency surgery to get the "personal watermelon" sized cyst removed. Dan took care of her for a full month of recovery. It was a scary time, but having each other made our time together even more important and special.
Dan planned with Sarah's family to surprise her with a proposal at Zoo Lights on Christmas Eve. With a beautiful opal ring, Dan proposed in a light tunnel with her family behind them. Of course, she said yes! Now Zoo Lights has a special place in our hearts as the place we got engaged.
We have been camping more times than we can count. We love to go to the movies and museums. We drive RC cars/trucks, and also go off-road in the big vehicles. We've been to various places along the Oregon Coast. We went to Seattle to celebrate one of Sarah's birthdays and see the Laika exhibit at the MoPOP. In Portland, we love to visit the Pittock Mansion and even did a behind-the-scenes tour. We found all of the cats on the Coraline themed art walk that took us to see 31 cats at various locations throughout Portland. OMSI exhibits are so much fun, we've been a couple like the dinosaur exhibit and the Pompeii exhibit. We love going to Portland Saturday Market as well as other smaller markets throughout Portland and Milwaukie. Our favorite park is the waterfront park in Milwaukie. We often go to the nickel arcade just up the road from the park as well. We love to go on dates and have fun activities planned.
