We love that all of the pups will be joining us! Lake Placid is very dog-friendly, with plenty of spots to explore together. For easy, scenic outings, we recommend the Mirror Lake Loop and Henry’s Woods—both great for a relaxed walk. If you’re up for something a bit more active, Cobble Hill and Mount Jo are also dog-friendly, with beautiful views (just note they can be a bit steeper). Many restaurants in town also offer outdoor, dog-friendly seating, so your pup can join in on the fun!
If you’re looking to spend some time on the water, Lake Placid has plenty of beautiful options. Mirror Lake is perfect for a calm paddle—kayaks and paddleboards are available to rent right in town. For a more open-water experience, you can rent a boat on Lake Placid or explore nearby Saranac Lake for a quieter, scenic outing. There’s also a public beach on Mirror Lake if you’d prefer to relax and take in the views.
For those who enjoy fishing, the Lake Placid area offers several great spots to cast a line. Mirror Lake is an easy, right-in-town option for a relaxed morning, while Lake Placid itself is known for lake trout and salmon. Nearby Saranac Lake offers a quieter setting with multiple access points, and the Ausable River is a favorite for fly fishing and more experienced anglers.
If you’re hoping to get a round in during your stay, Lake Placid offers a few beautiful courses with classic Adirondack scenery. The Lake Placid Club Golf Courses feature two scenic courses right in town, while the Whiteface Club & Resort offers a slightly more relaxed lakeside setting. Both are great options for a casual round or a more traditional golf experience.
