How it all began!

Swiped right forever!

A true testament of the times! Daniel and Elizabeth met in New York City on a dating app called Bumble in 2016. It started with a simple cute conversation about how they each were getting ready for their 4th of July. During this time Daniel asked for a 4th of July selfie. To Elizabeth she thought this was creepy and ghosted Daniel. Daniel's idea of the selfie was to see if she had a fun 4th of July outfit, since he had four unique patriotic outfits that weekend. Time goes by and all seems hopeless... Then, after a Kristin - Kjew (a bridesmaid!) had a birthday celebration and libations, Liz took to Bumble and messaged Daniel to see if he was up for a drink- just no selfies. Daniel thought this was an easy decision and surely a simple drink could do no wrong. They decided to meet for a drink near Elizabeth's apartment - "The Flying Cock" which was a normal bar - we swear! They met for the first time for drinks and exchanged stories and learned more about each other. Daniel led by saying he was from Boston, where Elizabeth quickly shut him down. Worcester is far from Boston since she is a Cambridge gal! They make regular small talk about cooking and favorite foods. After drinks, Daniel shared with his friends that he might have met the prettiest girl and was excited to ask her out again, which he did. Their next first real date was in the East Village. They met for oysters followed by cocktails at famed Goodnight Sonny. Goodnight Sonny’s is one of Dan's favorite bars and he doesn't just bring anyone there. They were able to get two great bar seats together and enjoy some fun cocktails. At this point Liz found a way to spill all of Dan's drink onto his lap and then Dan still thought the date was going well, he asked "I think I at least deserve a kiss after the spill..." Then it happened, their first kiss! The rest is history from after that!

The Proposal

Lobster Roll Crawl! Introduction to the CLAW scale!

The Summer of 2020 was especially difficult with Covid still very real. But Daniel knew it was time, otherwise Elizabeth might resort to violence. Dan found a winter weekend, where Liz had to visit a friend and he took the train up to Providence and drove to Scituate to ask Rick (Liz's Dad) for permission to marry over lunch. Rick graciously approved. Daniel then rushed back to NYC in the same day to start his idea for later that spring/summer, fast forward to the summer. Dan's booked a trip to Newport RI to visit Liz's friend Colleen and get out of the city, all with hopes to propose on the Cliff Walk where friends and family could celebrate with us that weekend in Newport. Sadly, there was a snag in the plan - the ring was not ready! Dan had to think quick, so the trip to Newport continued but was more casual and this started to throw Liz off. The following week after a taste of the ocean - Dan planned a Lobster Roll Crawl. Starting off with some notable locations near their NYC apartment that had lobster rolls. On the first stop they worked together to develop their own grading scale for all the lobster rolls they planned to try. The grading scale was developed to rate the rolls by Carbs, Lobster, Accoutrements, and Worth (CLAW scale). The score would be added up as a total from there. They traveled all around the city sharing and trying delicious lobster rolls from waterside spots in Battery Park, West Village, and the East Village. The last stop was their favorite - Goodnight Sonny, where they had their first kiss after the date there. As they were enjoying their Lobster Roll and preparing their scores - Dan started to recap the day and decided to drop down on the sidewalk on one knee and asked Liz "will you marry me?" In her upmost surprise she did not hesitate to say "Yes!"
