We're Getting Married!

Our story begins like many modern romances... on a dating app. We had both just moved to Seattle - Dan for work and Katie for grad school. Our first in-person meet up was on January 24th, 2020 at a cider bar in Ballard called Noble Fir (Dan’s suggestion). We met up a few more times (including a sushi dinner where Dan tried not to scare off Katie by eating too much and a hike where Katie tried to impress Dan with her super outdoorsy skills) before the world suddenly changed with the start of the pandemic. This new normal provided a unique opportunity for us to slow down, have meaningful conversations and spend quality time together without the noise of our previously busy lives. Until Katie spring it on Dan that she was going to CA for two weeks to “bend the curve” with family… which turned into 2 months. Thankfully, upon returning, we picked up where we left off. On the 4th of July while at a holiday celebration at the hatchery where he worked, Dan used this opportunity to officially ask Katie, "so what are we?". And the rest, as they say, is history. Across the past 5 years, our relationship has grown from the days of hanging out in the hatchery trailer, commutes from Monroe to Seattle, then Woodinville to Seattle, to finally sharing a home together. We have both started new careers and expanded our little family by adopting our two kitties, Oliver and Elsie. Through countless nights with friends, trips to visit loved ones, celebrating weddings and welcoming new little ones to the crew, outdoor adventures, board game nights, binge watching reality tv and crime docs, laughter and love, we have built a beautiful life together. On February 18th, 2024, while in Hawaii on a family vacation, Dan finally got down on one knee. Katie was so excited, she didn't even let Dan ask the question before saying "OF COURSE!"
