- How we met -

March 6th 2018

Dan's version: We first met when Jessie and I both worked at a shirt screening company. When we weren't busy we were always talking and joking around. Whenever it was a slow day I would sit at the computer where she worked and act like I was looking at orders when in reality I just wanted to talk to her. Jessie's version: Dan was first introduced to me as “the guy that does the shipping and some check in.” Little did I know that I was being introduced to my future husband. Thank you, Shirtmasters. At first it was just the normal fellow employee conversations. “Good morning.” “Can you please ship this for me?” “Have a good weekend.” Then it slowly turned into jokes, would you rather questions, gummy bear evaluation conversations, and movie invitations. Which I said yes to, of course. But it was really the big box of goldfish he got me for my birthday that year that sealed the deal. Dan is one observant, thoughtful, funny guy. I never thought I’d date a guy with a beard. And yet here I am marrying one. I couldn't be more excited to spend the rest of my life with him.

- Proposal -

Dan's version: We went to a pond where we had 1 of our first dates, and I proposed to her while the sun was setting. Jessie's version: I was away in Zambia for two and a half weeks. Dan came with my mom to pick us up from the airport, and on the way home he told me that he bought me some little welcome home gifts. Just some small things. We were busy all weekend going places and doing different things. Finally on Tuesday, June 29th, we were headed to Clough Pond, just the two of us. This was where we went on one of our very first dates. We brought the little gifts with us to open while we were there. After talking for a little bit and swimming for awhile we got out and dried off. The sun was starting to set, and Dan asked if I wanted to open the little gifts before we left. I enthusiastically agreed, completely oblivious to what was about to happen. The first gift was a keychain of a movie character I like. The second gift was a favorite candy that we had discovered together. And the third gift was the best of all, carefully wrapped in 2 sheets of tissue paper instead of just one. When I first pulled it out, I thought it was a mini photo album because the cover matched the scrapbook I made Dan for our 1 year anniversary. The Our Adventure Book from one of his favorite Disney movies UP. I opened the cover and was instantly speechless. Then surprised. Then the most excited I have ever been in my life as he got out of his chair to get on his knee and asked me to marry him. Easiest. Decision. Ever.
