Not to brag but everyone loves hearing our "story". Dan and I grew up across the street from each other in a cul-de-sac. Our families spent time together, especially our moms who remain close friends still today. I don't remember the exact first time we met because we were so young but we both have a lot of memories of hanging out together during our childhood. Dan, his older brother Will and I would all spend time a lot of time together. I can remember playing in their unfinished basement, specifically hitting balls against the walls down there. We would play outside on their swing set in the backyard. I even remember how burning hot the metal slide on their swing set would get during the summer. I also have a vivid and embarrassing memory of us walking up and down our cul-de-sac one night during the summer and I was singing "Lucky" by Britney Spears to them while we walked. I moved out of the cul-de-sac at 10 while Dan and Will stayed behind. Our moms continued to remain friends but Dan and I lost touch. Fast forward many, many years to the summer of 2017. I was living with my best friend, Alexa and decided to give dating apps a try so I downloaded Bumble. My friends helped me perfect my Bumble profile and after maybe a month or so Dan and I "swiped" right on each other. I can remember all my anxious thoughts at the time, "what if he doesn't remember me??" Bumble requires the girl to initiate conversation so I reached out to him and he had a clever response about the girl next door. We would text for hours and hours, very long conversations and finally met up in person to hang out. Our conversation flowed so naturally and I was absolutely smitten. Dan grew up to be the most handsome and intelligent man and I felt so lucky that we reconnected after so many years of not talking to each other. We had an official first date at Cooper's Hawk on the Plaza. We officially started dating on October 7th, 2017 making that a little more than 5 years together. As you can imagine, both of our moms were over the moon about us dating. They told us that they would talk about us growing up and getting married when we were little. We moved into a rental home in West Plaza the following year. We had our little family with his dog, Cooper, who quickly became my dog as well. We bought a house together in Prairie Village in 2019 where we still live today. We added an addition to our family when we adopted Claire in January of 2020. Dan proposed on March 11th, 2022 with the help of my best friends, Alexa and Lita, as well as both our families who were there for the surprise. I cannot wait to marry my best friend on June 24th of this year and spend the rest of our lives together!
