We first crossed paths at Domino’s while in college at ECU. Though we were both dating other people at the time, we couldn’t help but notice how cute the other was! Fast forward to 2016, and fate brought us back together through a mutual friend. This time, the timing was perfect, and we instantly hit it off! Now, after eight amazing years together, it’s finally time to make it official!
Our first official date was an unforgettable trip to Kerr Lake in the North Carolina mountains. We spent a long weekend together with friends, but it was those moments between just the two of us that truly made the trip special. Whether we were exploring the scenic surroundings or simply relaxing by the water, there was a certain spark that kept us drawn to each other. By the end of the weekend, we both knew that this was just the beginning of something special, and we couldn’t wait to see where our journey together would lead.
We both knew our relationship was something special the first time we said those three little words: "I love you." These words hold so much meaning for both of us, so we didn’t want to rush it. A year into dating, we found ourselves at Crater Lake in Oregon, surrounded by breathtaking views and the perfect moment to break the ice. When we finally shared those words, it felt like everything fell into place. We knew then that it would be hard to imagine life without each other, and our journey together became even more meaningful.
Our proposal was one for the books! Alex had it all planned out, and Dana didn’t see it coming. He started by treating her to an evening of pampering with pedicures, followed by a delicious dinner. The night ended with a fun painting class, where Alex had a surprise up his sleeve. As they painted, Alex cleverly added the words "Will You Marry Me?" into his artwork. When Dana saw it, her response was, "Yes! Finally!" :) We were both over the moon and couldn’t wait to share the news with our family and friends. And just like that, the planning began!
Our journey together has been full of fun and exciting memories. Early on, we packed up our car with all our stuff—and the cat—and traveled across the country. It was during that adventure that we realized how much fun we had traveling together, and it quickly became one of our favorite things to do! Some of our top spots include the towering Redwoods in California, the breathtaking Crater Lake in Oregon, sunny days at Wrightsville Beach, and the vibrant music scene in New Orleans. We've also loved the blue waters of Grand Turk and the Cayman Islands, the relaxing vibe of Jamaica, the thrill of cruise ship activities, the fantastic foods in Belize and Cozumel, hiking Morrow Mountain and other trails, exciting evenings at Carowinds, and riding our PEVs together in DC. These are just a few of our favorite moments, and we can’t wait to add more to the list!
We’re so excited and grateful to have our family and closest friends with us on our special day. Standing by our sides at the front will be our wonderful siblings: Stephanie, Haley, Luke, and Seth, who will be joining us as bridesmaids and groomsmen. We’re thrilled that all of our parents—Susan & Dennis, Ronda, Cindy & Denny—will be there to celebrate with us. Our beloved grandparents, Kathy & Ron, and Emory, will also be in attendance, adding to the joy of the occasion. We will miss seeing Grammie Sheila there and look forward to seeing her soon! We’ll have a special memorial chair in place for those who have passed before us but will be with us in spirit: Mavis & Paul, Sarah & Wade, Barbara, and Eslie. We’re also delighted to have our extended family—Adam, David, Stephen, Ben, & Kristofer—there to join in the celebration. And of course, we couldn’t forget Xena! Our pup will be part of the fun too. We’re looking forward to everyone meeting, sharing stories, and making this day truly unforgettable!
As we embark on this new chapter, we’re excited to continue elevating each other in every way. We both plan to further our education while searching for our first home to call our own. Our dream is to settle closer to family, where we can start a family of our own and enjoy the love and support of those closest to us. We look forward to making more unforgettable memories together, surrounded by the people we cherish the most.
