If I knew it or not, my life changed the day I met Dana. At this point in my life I was living weekend to weekend just having a good time hanging out with the guys…but knew I was longing for more. One of these weekends we had a surprise party for a close friend. Immediately when she walked in I noticed Dana. After fighting off a few buddies to talk to her I quickly found out she was more than her stunning blonde hair, long eyelashes and cute smile. She was a down to earth girl who loved her family and was excited for her future to become a teacher. I was hooked and knew I needed to see her again. Before Dana left that night, I ran to get her number because I could feel that this could be something great. Since that night, our love and affection for each other continues to grow.
I met Curtis on December 19th, 2015. At the time, I was in my senior year at CNU. I wasn't looking to date anyone and was at a point in my life that I wasn't going to seek a relationship, but let God lead me to one. That night I came home from school on Christmas break. I met up with some old high school friends and we made plans to go out in downtown Richmond. It wasn't until we were in the car that I realized that I was being dragged to a surprise party for a Radford group of friends where I wouldn't know anyone. I was out of my comfort zone and walked into the party with a mindset of this was going to be a long, boring night..boy was I wrong. After 5 minutes of standing in a group of friends, I see this guy coming towards me. He had a kind smile, soft eyes, and I thought man he is cute! He introduced himself by saying, "Hi, I'm Curtis. You didn't go to Radford did you?" I responded with a "No, I go to CNU." and Curtis pulled the old, "Oh! You seein' me!?" Somehow the cheesy line worked and I was hooked. I didn't know where it would lead, but I just knew that I didn't want the night to end. After leaving the party, I immediately texted two of my good friends and said "I think I just met my future husband." Shortly after Christmas break, I went back to CNU and was nervous to see if Curtis and I would continue to date or if things would fizzle out. We continued to talk and make road trips to see each other on the weekends. And of course as soon as I graduated and moved home, Curtis moved to Blacksburg for a year. But we continued to pursue our relationship. Finally after 2 years living a part, we both made Chesterfield our home. We have experienced challenges and we have experienced triumphs, but I know that I would take the highs and the lows with Curtis rather than without him. He is loyal, patient, challenges me, and makes me see the world in a different perspective. He is my best friend and love of my life, I can't even recall my life before December 19th, 2015.
