Our Story

“Dana and Brandon met through mutual friends” . . . but the story isn’t quite that simple!

After college, Brandon decided to leave his native Pennsylvania and took a job in Milford, Delaware. Dana also decided to venture out on her own after college and chose to leave her hometown of Milford, Delaware to experience the city life in Baltimore. Fortunately, Brandon found his way into a great group of friends in Delaware who just so happened to be the same great friend group that Dana would visit when she was home. There is photographic evidence that Dana and Brandon may have met as early as Summer 2011 at the Rusty Rudder in Dewey, but the first time the couple remembers meeting was at their friend Sara's annual Pumpkin Pancakes get together for Thanksgiving 2014. Dana and Brandon hung out in group settings several times after that with their mutual friends and connected over their shared engineering experiences, but never moved beyond that. After a good stint in Baltimore, Dana decided in 2015 that it was time to move back home. Around this same time, Brandon had decided to make his way back to Pennsylvania. The timing was so great in fact, that Brandon even asked Dana if she wanted to buy his condo in Lewes! Thankfully she did not, and Brandon continued to frequent his Lewes residence on weekends. On one such weekend in April 2016, Dana came across Brandon on a dating app and reached out with an ever so original “fancy seeing you here”. They decided to meet up and went on a double date with their friend Matthew. It went well and Brandon came back down a few weeks later to take Dana on their first real date (Captain America: Civil War then dinner at Striper Bites). After a couple years of “will they, or won’t they?”, Dana and Brandon decided in 2018 to give it a real go. Brandon took a new job and moved to Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, which made it much easier for the couple to alternate weekend visits. That year, they went on their first vacation together (their friends’ wedding in Mexico!) and met each other’s families (officially!). Towards the end of 2019, the couple began talks of moving in together and Dana started exploring job options near Chambersburg. As luck would have it, Dana learned about a possible opportunity with her dad’s company which offered the option to work remotely. Dana started her new job in March 2020 and made the move to Chambersburg in April, just in time for a global pandemic. Luckily, the couple had their new puppy, Odin, to keep them busy. After living together for a couple years, raising a puppy, and surviving a pandemic, Dana and Brandon decided in early 2022 that it was finally time to get married. They started making plans, talked to their parents, and made it official when Brandon proposed in March 2022. The proposal was as low key as you would expect from this couple; Brandon surprised Dana in their kitchen while she was baking cookies! They shared the big news with the rest of their family that weekend and got busy working on the details. They found (1) a rustic venue with (2) a mountain view for (3) a fall wedding on (4) a fun numeric date, checking off everything on Dana’s wish list. The couple is so excited for their next chapter and cannot wait to celebrate with everyone!
