We can’t wait to finally celebrate with you all for a night out in Downtown LA overlooking the city and dancing on the dance floor!
We are now in the midst of reception planning, yay! We received our wedding video the other day and would like to share it with you all. Copy and paste the link to view. We hope you enjoy! https://vimeo.com/580943911
Although we were unable to have the large wedding celebration we had originally planned for, our wedding day could not have been any more perfect. While we missed each and every one of you, it was such a special weekend/time to be able to spend with family in the most intimate setting. Lot of laughs and hugs were shared, tears were shed, but most of all, we were able to celebrate our marriage on the most beautiful Palm Springs day.
It all began 4th of July in 2008. We were in-between our freshman and sophomore year of high school and we met with mutual friends to get some lunch before exploring the Claremont Village. We spent the whole day together and ended the night taking firework photos on flip phones. Throughout high school we maintained a very casual relationship and spent a lot of time together because our best friends were also dating. We parted ways junior year and although we kept the same mutual friends, we both entered different relationships and lost touch. Flash forward to 2015 and I am moving home from Dallas, Texas after graduating college. When I returned home I reached out to friends I knew still lived in the area and Jake was included in the group of friends. We spent a good amount of time together hanging out in a group and in October 2015 we decided to rekindle our casual relationship and would just spend hours talking and getting to know each other again. We decided to officially start dating in December 2015 and got engaged Thanksgiving 2019!
Just like any Thanksgiving, the day involves preparation and cooking. We had spent the whole day at Jake's parents house to help cook and prepare everything for a Thanksgiving dinner we were to share with both of our families. Later in the afternoon we headed home to get ready for the evening and it had been pouring rain all day. We planned to get back to Jake's parents house about an hour before my family arrived and as we pulled up to the house, it was pouring rain and all the lights were off (I was clueless). We ran up to the house to get out of the rain and as Jake opened the front door, Into the Mystic by Van Morrison was playing and white rose petals were all over the floor leading out to the backyard (still clueless). I could see that the backyard was covered in twinkling white lights (still clueless) and I mentioned that it looked pretty outside. Jake mentioned that we should go check it out but I let him know I didn't want to because it was raining outside (no idea what was going on). He kept asking and I finally gave in. As we began walking from the front door to the backyard I could see that it was a trail of white roses leading to the backyard and everything hit me all at once. As Jake and I were standing under the twinkling lights he got down on one knee and proposed. I started bawling crying and didn't hear a word he said but knew I was going to say yes as soon as I could! As soon as I said yes his whole family emerged and my family arrived about 5 minutes later. We spent the rest of the night celebrating and eating with family and our friends joined us to celebrate later in the evening. It was the best Thanksgiving ever!!
