I met Ameena in 2022 when I started my job as a registered nurse in the NICU, and from the very beginning, there was something about her that stood out. We clicked almost instantly, but I knew our friendship was something special when she invited me to her birthday dinner in December 2022 (and she knows exactly why). From that moment on, everything just fell into place. Without even realizing it, we grew closer and closer, and before I knew it, she had become one of my best friends. This past year, we were even named the “Dynamic Duo” at work, which honestly feels so fitting. Ameena has become such a constant in my life, someone I can always count on, and I can’t imagine my life without her. She has a warmth that makes everything around her feel lighter, and just being in her presence fills me with so much joy. She’s the reason I truly believe soulmates exist, and that some of them come in the form of best friends.

I met Linda during my sophomore year of high school, right after I moved to Howard County in 2014. From the very beginning, she became so much more than a friend — she became my person. I will never forget our countless car rides and bubble tea dates. We’ve been through so many chapters of life together, and she has been by my side through it all. Growing up together from such a young age and stepping into adulthood side by side has taught me the true meaning of friendship. Linda is not only my best friend, but also the reason Jack and I found our way to each other, which makes her extra special to me. We share countless memories, laughs, and moments that I’ll carry with me forever, and I thank her for always being there for me. I truly wouldn’t be who I am today without her, and I can’t imagine this day without her standing next to me.

I’ve been friends with Joan for six years now, and she has become such a special part of my life. From the beginning, our friendship has been filled with so much laughter and genuine fun. She’s someone who brings so much warmth and joy into every room, and I’m so grateful for all the memories we’ve made together. She is beautiful inside and out, and I adore every ounce of her. She’s getting married this year as well, and I feel so grateful that we get to experience this beautiful new chapter at the same time. Being able to navigate this once-in-a-lifetime season together is something I’ll always cherish. A core memory I always think about is when we were being goofy at mini golf in Ocean City. That was probably the hardest I have ever laughed.

Have you ever heard of the invisible string theory? That’s exactly how I think about Anna and our story. We met at work and became friends, only to later realize that we had technically known each other years earlier — we both went to outdoor ED in 8th grade and even slept in the same cabin without ever meeting. Somehow, we found our way back to each other. Now, I truly can’t imagine my life without her. Anna is a ray of sunshine, bringing positive energy into my life every single day. I’m so grateful to do life with her — and she also made me an aunty, which makes her even more special to me.

All I can say is — this is my twin. Truly a sister from another mister. Sarah has been such a blessing in my life, and I honestly can’t believe we didn’t meet sooner. We had mutual friends in high school, yet somehow didn’t officially meet until 2022, and from that moment on, everything just clicked. I knew right away our friendship was going to grow into something really special. Sarah has shown me what it means to be a true friend; always being supportive and always there when it matters most. I’m so grateful for her constant presence in my life, and for all the love she brings into it.

I met Julie in nursing school, and from the very beginning, it felt like we just got each other. We trauma-bonded our way through nursing school, and it’s no surprise we ended up in the same specialty, just at different workplaces. She’s the kind of friend who always keeps it real with me while supporting me through everything. We’re so alike in so many ways, and our friendship has been filled with constant love, support, and so many unforgettable moments. I can always count on her to let me come over just because I miss her. She’s my fellow Smiski lover and my go-to for pho and café dates. Julie means so much to me, and I feel incredibly lucky to have her not only as a friend, but standing by my side as a bridesmaid.

If I had to describe Leah in one word, it would be sunshine. She’s the kind of person who makes everything feel warmer just by being there. From the moment we met, I couldn’t get over how naturally we clicked — it felt effortless, like we had known each other forever. Leah has always been my biggest hype woman and one of the most supportive people in my life. She's somehow able to pull me out of my sad days and turn them right side up. I know I can count on her for anything, and I’m so incredibly grateful for our friendship and the light she brings into my life.

Can you think back in your life and name that one person you know you’ll always love, and always be able to count on? The one who’s been there from the very beginning — literally. That person is Jaya to me. She’s my childhood best friend, my soul sister, my Lilo. Growing up together taught me that no matter the distance, our friendship will always find a way to thrive. We have more memories than I could ever count, but one of my favorites will always be those early mornings when I’d go to her house at 5 am and stay for the weekend after I moved and we couldn’t see each other every day anymore. That time together means everything to me. To think that she’ll be standing by my side as I get married… tears.
