The way we met was actually a happy accident. I hadn't changed my default "perfect person" settings, so Cody somehow snuck in there. We got matched and things took off from there. What attracted me most, right away, was the way he persisted me through his confidence. Soon, we routinely wanted to know how each other were every day and we both took great interest in getting to know each other. The day finally came when we met in person, for the first time, at Corleone's Italian Restaurant in Morris, Illinois and the sparks soon turned into fireworks. Even though I had first thought of him as shy, the conversation went on for hours. Our date soon led to a beautiful walk down a trail along the I&M Canal and ending with night at the movies when we saw "The Best of Me." Two weeks after our first date, he asked me to be his girlfriend and the rest is history...
The best Christmas present of our lives came on a cold winter day when Cody came over to my house with a huge, white teddy bear that had a big red ribbon wrapped around the neck. We sat down on the living room couch and he set the teddy bear on the coffee table. We started talking when I noticed a small sparkle that was glistening from the red ribbon. I realized then that it was a ring and my heart stopped. The first thing that blurted out of my mouth was, "Is this what I think it is?" He then looked into my eyes with that familiar smile, that I still love to this day, and asked me, "Dana, will you marry me?" "YES!"
