How We Met

February 2010

Depends on who you ask... Ha! Well, Dana and Bryan first laid eyes on each other on the basketball court; a true, "Love & Basketball" story! Bryan was a referee for intramural basketball, Dana was a player. The two love birds would send flirty eyes back and forth, but neither of them made a move. One day, Dana walked into Champs shoe store at the Brea mall to buy some basketball shoes, and BOOM! There was that cute boy from the gym! Bryan won a game of rock, paper, scissors against his boss which allowed him free range to approach the new customer, who was that cute girl from the gym! There, Dana and Bryan exchanged a conversation along the lines of, "Hey, I recognize you from the rec center..." and it was game on from there. They exchanged numbers in the shoe store, and that was the start of a forever love. Thank goodness Bryan won that game of rock, paper, scissors!

The Proposal

April 28, 2018

This was on Dana's birthday weekend. That night, the plan was to go to Downtown Disney with Sharon and Jason (one of the bridesmaids and groomsman) and have a double-date night. Leading up to this day, Dana was convinced that this was going to be THEE night, but Bryan's calm demeanor that morning threw her off, completely. If he is anxious or excited about something, Dana could (usually) always tell! So by the that afternoon, Dana convinced herself she was crazy and it was not THEE night. When the four of them made it to their dinner spot in Downtown Disney, everyone was so calm, and Dana had no idea that the three of them were stressing because they sat to eat at 8:45pm and the fireworks started in less than an hour! Once dinner was finished, they hustled over to watch the fireworks in front of the Disneyland entrance, power walking to make it in time. Once they got there, Dana SAT DOWN because there were people behind her and she did not want to block their view! This threw a wrench in Bryan's vision, but it was fine! Bryan made sure all of the family was near (which is another detail Dana was totally oblivious to), and he got down on one knee in front of the beautiful Disney fireworks and asked Dana to marry him. She said, "of course," through the happiest of tears. When they stood up, they were surrounded by friends and family who came out to witness this beautiful moment, including Dana's mom and stepdad who Skyped in from China. Rena, Jason, and Sharon, along with all of the friends and family who came out, played a huge role in helping this dream come true for Dana and Bryan! Cheers!
