How We Met (Andrew’s Story)

I had just established a service contract at a large car dealership in Los Angeles. I noticed sitting at the reception area of the dealership was this beautiful, gregarious, and charismatic woman. She became known to me as Dana. I continue to interact with her on a professional level for four years. I found her to be self-reliant, and intelligent and, from my perspective, unavailable. She was always so wonderfully nice to me, and her eyes and smile were magnetic. I finally asked her out to lunch with the intention of getting to know her. I really didn’t expect anything to come out of the interaction until we started conversing and then, at one point, I felt a connection that I’ve never felt before in my life. Watching her speak, hearing the tone of her voice, and feeling her energy I was just enamored, at that moment, irrevocably. I just could not get enough of the conversation and her. Two dates later I asked to be exclusive with her. I have had people mention, “…you’re moving too fast…” and I told them if you could see into the future and find the person that you wanted to love, your whole life, would you pass up the opportunity because of the perspective of time? I will not….

The Proposal

Prior to the proposal I fell into a deep contemplation about the future. I thought, it is very important to our relationship that I honored Dana and her family. In doing so, I first called Dana’s father, and requested his permission to marry her. After a long conversation he gave me that permission. Further, I understood that we would be creating a Union of love amongst Dana and myself, but also her daughter Zoe. Thus, the day I asked Dana to marry me I brought both of them into our room and sat them down. I asked Zoe’s permission to marry her mother. She excitedly agreed. I then got down on one knee and asked Dana if she would do me the honor of marrying me. There was a slight moment of anticipation. Then she gleefully presented her left hand forward with tears in her eyes and said, “Absolutely…” I presented her with a ring and placed it on her finger. I then, also, gave Zoe a princess ring, in representation of the moment, and presented that to her which she placed on her finger. Other than meeting Dana, this is the best day of my life.
