Chicago has two main airports. O'Hare and Midway. City dwelling before coming to Crystal Lake? Fly into either O'Hare or Midway. Take the "L" to your destination downtown. Staying in Crystal Lake first thing? Fly to O'Hare airport. Either rent a car or see "Metra Rail"

Train
The "L"
Have fun riding Chicago's "L" (short for elevated) around the city. Use google maps to get you to the right CTA stops. The blue line will take you directly from O'Hare airport to downtown.

Metra Rail
The Metra train runs from downtown Chicago to Crystal Lake and is $8.50 for a one-way ticket. The ride takes about one hour. RIDE FROM THE CITY TO CL: To take the train from the city to CL, check the schedule at the Metra website (click View below). It runs every hour on weekdays and Saturdays. Hop on at Ogilvie, Clybourn, or Jefferson Park and ride to the Crystal Lake stop. The Crystal Lake train station is a five-minute uber or lyft from the wedding venue. RIDE FROM O'HARE AIRPORT TO CL: There is not a direct line on this train from O'Hare airport out to Crystal Lake. The way around this is to take the Blue line on the "L" (city train) from O'Hare to Jefferson Park. Get off at Jefferson Park and walk one block to the Metra Train and head to the burbs on the Union Pacific Northwest line. If you really want to avoid renting a car, this can be done! Uber and Lyft around Crystal Lake is the way from there.
