Mobile phone reception and internet access is available in Tryphena, but can be limited in other parts of the island. This is one reason we love great barrier!...helps you to connect with nature :)

There are no banks or ATM's on the island, but they do take cards/eftpos. If you need cash then you may want to withdraw it before you come
The weather on Great Barrier Island in October/November is a mixed bag. It may be best to bring clothing that will suit all seasons.
There are no public bins on Aotea, please dispose of your waste thoughtfully...either place of purchase or at your accommodation.
Every island household and business is off the grid and generates its own power. Please limit your wattage throughout your stay when you can :)

Parking at Sandspit ferry terminal costs $12 per day, otherwise free parking is available on Brick Bay drive and surrounding streets which are at least a 10-20min walk from terminal.
