Our love story begins the way many modern ones do: we met on a dating app. This app requires the ladies to make the first move. Jake had something in his profile about liking dad jokes so that was Allison's conversation starter. She asked Jake to share his favorite dad joke. Jake's response: What does the father buffalo say to his son when he drops him off at school? Answer: Bi-son. Jake then asked Allison for her favorite dad joke. Unlike Jake, Allison did not have a collection of jokes lined up so she Googled one. Why didn't the pony go to the party? Text Jake or Allison for the answer :) A few days later they made plans to get coffee and ended up talking for hours on that date. The rest is history!
THE PLANNING: The proposal story begins in February 2022. First - Jake got the ring and then he put a plan in motion. He had a vision of proposing to Allison on the National Mall (a place that is very special to them). He contacted their friends and family to get everyone to come to D.C. on March 5th. Now, he just had to figure out how to make it happen without Allison suspecting anything. They decided to go to the Native American History Museum and then meet up with two friends later in the afternoon. THE DAY: Not knowing what was going to happen, Allison took her sweet time getting ready in the morning. Meanwhile, Jake was excited but trying to push Allison out the door because everyone was waiting near the Mall. They finally left home and got on the Metro. Allison noticed Jake was acting a little strange(r) than usual. When they got off the Metro Jake ran to the bathroom and was in there for a while. Turns out, he was texting everyone to make sure they were in place. Jake suggested that he and Allison take a "quick" photo on the Mall. He led Allison to the grassy area and tried to get them to pose for a selfie. Once he took the photo, he grabbed Allison's hands and asked "Do you know why we're here?" And then - he got down on one knee! After the proposal, they spent the day with their wonderful friends and family who were gathered across the street!
